Chicago Software Guys
This policy describes the Chicago Software Guys website at chicagosoftwareguys.com (the "site"). "We" means that business. Bracketed contact details still need to be filled in.
What this site is
The public pages describe custom website, hosting, and automation work and include a contact form. Signed-in tools (workouts, timesheets, and friendship streaks) are for approved users. They are not a product sold through this website. The site does not take payment and does not run a checkout.
Information you give us
- Contact form. Name, email, project description, and, only if you choose to provide them, company, phone, and budget. We use this to reply to the request. We do not add you to a marketing list. The form is not stored in the site database. When email delivery is turned on, the message is emailed to Chicago Software Guys.
- Data-deletion form. Name, email, and a description of the request, sent the same way when that email setting is on.
- Microsoft sign-in. If you sign in with Microsoft, we receive the account identity and roles Azure AD sends for this app.
- Email sign-in code. Approved users can request a one-time code. We use the email address to send that code and keep the code briefly in server memory. This is not a marketing email.
- Workouts. Signed-in users can save exercise logs, weights, reps, notes, and profile settings, including whether a profile is public. Do not put medical diagnoses in notes. Public workout pages show the display name and stats of users who turned that setting on.
- Timesheets. An internal tool for approved users. Entries include dates, times, and related notes. Creating or editing an entry emails the site operator and the signed-in user. Those emails are operational, not marketing.
- Friendship streaks. A public page can list a person's name, a meeting date, and an optional photo. Admins add that information. Photos are stored in the database.
Information collected automatically
The server and Microsoft Application Insights record requests, such as the page, time, and basic diagnostic data, so we can run and protect the site. The Application Insights browser script, which can set analytics cookies, loads only after you choose "Allow analytics" on the cookie banner. See the cookie policy.
We do not use advertising pixels, Google Analytics, or a marketing email platform on this site.
How we use information
We use personal information to answer contact and deletion requests, sign approved users in, operate the signed-in tools, keep the site secure, and meet record-keeping duties. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for another company's marketing.
Service providers
- Microsoft Azure: hosting, Azure AD sign-in, Key Vault, SQL Server, and Application Insights.
- Microsoft Graph, scope
user.read, for signed-in Microsoft users when that integration is used. - Transactional email through the configured provider (Amazon SES via SMTP, or SMTP2GO). The provider receives the recipient address and the message content so it can deliver the email.
- DigitalOcean Spaces: the app has a storage client configured. No public page currently uploads files through it.
- Carriers and a messaging provider would receive a mobile number only if the SMS verification program described below is turned on. It is not live.
Pages load jQuery, Bootstrap, and (on the signed-in workout logger, when a chart is enabled) Chart.js from this site's own files. Those libraries do not contact their authors when the page loads. The Font Awesome kit script that used to load from fontawesome.com has been removed.
Children
The site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. There is no children's account, profile, or product, so we do not ask a parent to authorize collection of a child's data. The contact form asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older and that you are not sending information about a child. If we learn we have information from a child, we will delete it. Use the data-deletion request page to tell us.
How long we keep it
Contact and deletion messages stay in the recipient mailbox until that mailbox is cleaned up. One-time login codes are kept only long enough to sign in. Workout, timesheet, streak, and account records stay while the feature is in use or until you ask us to delete them and we do not need the record for security, tax, or employment reasons.
Your choices
You can request access, correction, or deletion on the data-deletion request page. We may need to confirm that the request is yours. Signed-in workout profiles have a control for what is public. Cookie choices are explained in the cookie policy.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and sign-in cookies are marked HttpOnly. No website can promise that unauthorized access is impossible.
Chicago Software Guys SMS privacy
Last updated October 4, 2026. This section governs the Chicago Software Guys SMS verification program and takes precedence over general sharing provisions above for mobile information and SMS consent.
Information and use
When you choose SMS verification, we collect your mobile phone number, affirmative SMS consent, and verification request and delivery records. We use these to deliver requested one-time login passcodes and account verification codes, maintain consent records, provide support, and protect account security. This program does not send marketing messages.
SMS consent and sharing
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or messaging programs. Messaging providers and carriers may receive only information necessary to deliver and support this program on our behalf, and may not use it for their own marketing. SMS consent is excluded from business-sale or merger transfers.
Your choices
Providing a phone number alone does not constitute consent. SMS consent is optional and separate from general terms acceptance, and is not a condition of purchase or use of our services. Available non-SMS sign-in methods can be used instead. Message frequency varies based on your verification requests. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.
After opting out of US toll-free messages, text START or UNSTOP to the same number to resume delivery. Requesting another code alone does not remove the carrier block.
Retention and support
We retain mobile information and consent records as needed to operate the program, honor opt-outs, protect security, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. For SMS support, use our contact form. To request access, correction, or deletion, use the data-deletion request page or the contact form.
See our SMS Terms and Conditions. SMS verification is currently coming soon. The SMS consent preview does not enroll you or send messages.
